February 12th Weather Update

Today’s weather is sunny but chilly with a high temperature close to 19 degrees. Although the sun is shining the wind makes it feel much colder with wind chill values dropping to as low as -10 degrees. The strong northeast wind blows at 15 to 23 miles per hour adding to the cold. In the afternoon the wind will shift to blow from the south-southeast but it will still be quite breezy. Gusts could reach up to 37 miles per hour making it a blustery day outside.

Mt. Hood Meadows Surface Conditions, “Groomed snow is a mix of packed powder and hardpack with scoured spots in high traffic areas. Off piste conditions are a mix of powder and skier-tracked/packed powder.  Approach off-piste areas with caution. Watch for scoured areas – they are difficult to edge in and can result in long slides and impacts with trees, other people, and other hazards. In some areas down lower on the resort low snow conditions still exist.”
